Cheap and easy garlic bread

19 May

As promised, here’s Recipe #2:

Homemade garlic bread–this is recipe I found on Allrecipes when we had some hot dog rolls I wanted to get rid of. They weren’t stale but we didn’t have any hot dogs left and, not knowing when I was going to buy them again, I wanted to use the rolls before they did become stale. I make this when we’re having pasta or stuffed shells.

  • Hot dog rolls
  • butter, amount varies based on quantity of rolls (usually about 1 tbsp per roll)
  • Garlic, to taste

  1. Preheat toaster oven to 450º
  2. Combine butter and garlic in small bowl (if using unsalted butter, add some salt)
  3. Spread garlic butter mixture liberally on each roll
  4. Place on baking tray
  5. Bake for about 15 minutes or until bread is as browned and crisp as you like it

Here’s the final product for this one:

It’s absolutely delicious! I promise it’s just as good as the frozen or prepackaged garlic bread. Healthier, too. They’re also designed to be individual servings, so there’s no fighting over the last piece or feeling like a pig if you have 3 slices and someone else has 2. Everyone wins!
